Showreel Breakdown:

  • Telstra T-Hub. 3 Drunk Monkeys passed down a brief to produce photoreal, 3D models of phones and props that would be used in a national ad campaign for the Telstra T-Hub launch. I was commissioned by Fireback Digital to build the phone models and assets for a number of 30 second spots in which these props would fly towards the viewer as through a time portal. I produced two of the final phones, the 3D version of the head in a jar, the T doors, and the portal effect. Programs Used: Blender, After Effects
  • Midstraeti – various character rigs. Over the past year, I have supplied rigs for several characters used in animated TV commercials. The client – Icelandic 3D motion graphics agency, Midstraeti – would supply the models (in .blend file format) which I would rig, and then send the amended file back. Their animators would then complete the animation necessary for the commercial. I have rigged: chickens, frogs, people of various girth and age, and even a crash-test-dummy. Programs Used: Blender.
  • Piet & the Wooden Statue. I produced several effects for the short film, Piet & the Wooden Statue by Cherrypip Productions. This film was part of the Taste of Orange Slow Summer Program in 2010. While the doll effects were outsourced to 3D animator, Kynan Stephenson, I produced: a title sequence, a CG twig that comes to life, and several particle effects including falling leaves, cake spatters, and sparkles. Skills I incorporated included: 3D modeling, rigging and animating, doctoring images so they could be composited with effects. Programs Used: Blender, After Effects, Photoshop, Final Cut Pro.
  • Media Cart coke spots. Media Cart commissioned Fireback Digital to produce a number of spots to advertise the Coke brand on small LCDs attached to shopping trolleys in selected supermarkets. I was asked to create a number of liquid effects and incorporate them into motion graphic spots for Coke. Programs Used: Blender, After Effects
  • Heroes background references. I produced and rendered stills from 3D sets for Jason Badower, which acted as reference for several frames in one of the Heroes online comics. Programs Used: Blender
  • Instant Scratchies Storyboards. Conti Bros Films requested storyboards be drawn for an Instant Scratchies TV commercial. I was instructed on the storyline by the director, and then produced several frames which would then be used to direct the crew on set. Programs Used: GIMP.
  • Telstra 3DTV Display animation – Mercury Logo. I used Maya 8.5 with a metaball plugin to create a 15 second animation for the NewSight 3DTV displays installed in Telstra’s stores in Melbourne and Sydney. The dual task of using the proprietary plugin for the display and creating a seamless merging of metamesh and solid object was difficult, but successfully realized. Programs Used: Maya 8.5; NewSight Camera Plugin for Maya.
  • PDM Corporate Presentation. I used Syntheyes to motion-track several piece of footage so I could then place CG lettering in-situe for the opening and closing stings. Programs Used: Blender, After Effects, Syntheyes.
