Making of 2017 Xmas Homebased Card

Flawedprefect Posted on 8 years ago

I found some time to do a little Homebased Holiday card, and screen-captured the process of creating it in Clip Studio Paint. The footage is sped up to about 10x real-time, but you can see the steps I take in creating a fully digital illustration here.

Watching it back, I’m surprised at how long I take on just getting the pencils right before I even get to inking. What I love most about the digital process is that I can flip drafts back and forth, select and scale parts and edit all on the fly before committing to a final pass. I also have adopted a lot of the “flatting” techniques I used in Photoshop to fill in color blocks. I am still getting used to creating custom pallets, but overall, I still love using Clip Studio as my go-to application for illustrating.
