Pleased to meet you! My name is Paul Caggegi (He/Him) and that last name is pronounced Kadge-Edgy (in case you were wondering).
After graduating with a BA In Communication Studies from UWS Nepean in 2001, I worked at several post-production studios as an in-house video editor and promo producer. In 2008, I decided to go freelance, taking on a wider range of work, expanding into areas such as illustration, motion graphics and beyond.
In 2011, my partner and I started our small family and I took some time to be the stay-at-home dad while my partner worked full-time. It was not an easy time! Just before COVID hit, I’d decided to get back into work and scored some freelance work at Nickelodeon and MTV. It was cut short because of lockdowns, but I did some really great work and collaborated with some talented people.
Around 2021, Wes Burke reached out, looking for someone to do some storyboards for a production he was in charge of. I jumped at the opportunity – it could be done remotely; it involved working in Blender; and it was for a team of creative people I had looked up to for a decade.
Shortly after beginning this project, I was offered a role as an instructor, and I produced my first course PANELS. Since then, I’ve created concept art, layout and designs, and more courses for CG Cookie. My most recent release is DRAW! A free introduction to Grease Pencil.
In my own time, I am constantly branching out with my personal art. I attend a wide range of life drawing classes to hone my skills and expand my techniques.
I’m active on a range of social media platforms too, such as Mastodon, Instagram and most recently Cara.
